Laserline - Performance tools for snow removal equipment

The first snowflakes have already fallen in several places in the province of Quebec!

The industrial and commercial snow removal is a market increasingly specialized, where companies seek to stand out by finding performance tools for their equipment.

Laserline - The safer way to plow!

The laser spot impacts on the road/snow surface ahead of the truck and shows the driver where the wing plow trailing edge will be. This laser system is mainly used on snow removal trucks,

The laser reference spot is on the road and in the driver’s normal field of view. Driving conditions using the laser; the worse it gets, the better it works!  The GL3000PMC Guidance Laser uses an “ultra-bright” green laser to establish wing plow trailing edge location before you get there.

It is electronically designed for cold weather operation.

This laser is coupled to a special heat source for the exit window to reduce or eliminate ice build-up on the front of the laser output lens. The GL3000PMC also has a unique pneumatic snow removal system incorporated with the laser housing that automatically fires a blast of air at the front of the laser lens every 5 seconds. This removes snow build-up from the laser output lens.

The laser guidance system cuts damage caused by plow strikes by 80 to 100% and the high cost associated with it.

Lubrication systems adapted to rough conditions

A good lubricant is essential for preventative maintenance for your equipment. Most of the foremen that are responsible for the maintenance of equipment will agree with this statement concerning preventative maintenance. If there is a lack of grease where there is movement and it collects dust or you wash the machine it will prematurely start to damage the moving parts. To know more about the advantages linked to automatic lubrication, consult the article «Preventative maintenance».

Today’s reality is that most equipment are exposed to rough conditions (demolition, excavation, etc.) where the system is dangerously exposed. Working in such conditions can implicate costly repairs due to crushed and/or torn hoses which can lead to extra time for preventative maintenance.

Customized lubrication systems for your environment.

In order to address this issue, Alltech Group has adapted their lubrication systems to such environments by installing a special shielding to prevent damaging parts and hoses in critical areas of the equipment.

Shielding is installed on equipment that operate in extreme conditions such as demolition, excavation in rocky areas, mines, quarries, forestry, etc. it prevents costly repairs due to crushed and/or torn hoses. All areas at high risk are reinforced and protected.

An example of a shielding installed on a loader.

  • The hoses placed in a hazardous area are protected by a protective metal angle and maxi clamp.
  • Points that are located in hazardous areas are linked with metal hose.

  • The distribution valve located on the H-Link is protected by a protective metal plate.
  • The pump is installed in the motor or tool compartment, sheltered from debris, weather and contaminants.
  • Points situated in hazardous areas are linked by ultra-resistant metal hose.
  • The supply lines of the H-Link are protected by a mechanical tube.

Do not forget your automatic lubrication system must be your go too and not your burden!

Inspect your lubrication system before winter!

Complete inspection in fall

The beginning of fall is the perfect season to do a full inspection of your lubrication systems. Especially for snow removal equipment and also for construction equipment. Scheduled inspection will allow you to detect and resolve problems before the work. Keeping your equipment in optimal condition can be more productive!

The most important step; grease change

Cold weather is just around the corner, it's important to replace summer grease (EP NLGI 2) of your ALLFETT lubrication systems with winter grease (EP NLGI 1 or 0) . Grease is the key component of your lubrication system. The type of grease chosen is particularly important for the operation of the system and will have a direct impact on its efficiency.

Consult our online guide for more details about recommended greases for ALLFETT systems, grease compatibilities or for grease change procedures .

Who does the inspection?

1. Us

The inspection of the lubrication system can be entrusted to a workshop recognized for the services of Allfett systems. This saves you time and ensures that all points are covered. An inspection report is provided to you for each equipment inspected.

Consult the list of authorized distributors:

2. You

Inspection can also be done by your team if you have time. Order now your pressure gauge kit compatible with several brands of automatic lubrication system:

Step not to be neglected: Daily summary inspection

A summary visual inspection should be made on a daily basis by the operator:

  • Check if there is a thin layer of fresh grease at each lubrication point
  • Make sure all hoses and adapters are in place and not leaking
  • Check the electronic card to make sure there are no alarms
  • Summary inspection ensures that once the equipment is up and running, everything is functional. No need to turn back for a minor break and lose production time.

Do a test cylce (additional cycle button) on the electronic card to make sure that the pump works well and that the pressure rises on the pressure gauge of the pump

Pedestrian proximity detection - The new safety standard for industrial vehicles

Pedestrian accidents, a major issue in the industry

Thousands of worksite accidents are caused by a collision with a mobile machine. An estimation of 1 of 10 mobile equipment is involved in an accident each year .

In addition to being a real safety issue, accidents can involve direct costs of up to $ 3 million per death and indirect costs of up to 17 times more.

Advanced « Pedestrian Proximity Detection »

Technology now make it possible to differentiate a pedestrian from another object. We are talking about active safety; prevention of pedestrian / machinery collisions . In fact, the Blaxtair systemis a collision avoidance system for site equipment. With its intelligent 3D vision for the industry, it is a benchmark solution in security.

1 - Blaxtair SEES

Morphological recognition of pedestrians, no need for them to wear a badge.

2 - Blaxtair DETECTS

Reliable real time and continuous detection of pedestrians to protect workers on your site.

3 - Blaxtair ALERTS

Alerts the driver only in case of real danger, a valuable driving assistance to drivers.

The Blaxtair system emits an audible and visual alarm only in the event of danger

No pedestrian (no alarm)

The driver remains vigilant

Pedestrian alert (or all obstacles alert)

The driver stops immediately his vehicle

Increased productivity on your site

  • Generates only relevant alarms: less stress and irritation to the driver and surrounding workers, as Blaxtair focuses primarily on pedestrian dectection.
  • Avoids irrelevant alarms due to cluttered environment: Blaxtair can isolate pedestrians from other types of obstacles (objects) with the standard of accuracy required by critical security systems.

A BLAXTAIR for each machine

  • Detects pedestrians in case of immediate danger and warns the driver
  • Area of detection is configurable, according to the machine environment
  • Offers visibility on blind spots and helps vechicle maneuvers
  • Contributes to the reduction of accident risks in the workplace
  • Reduces stress for pedestrians and machine drivers

Blaxtair enhanced pedestrian safety

Differentiates pedestrians from inanimate obstacles.

Blaxtair constantly scans the potentially dangerous areas, and thus protecting people when entering those areas.

Prevents accidents by identifying obstacles in real time, within a timeframe of less than 0.3 seconds from dangerous event occurrence to detection and alarm.

Mitigates the risk of direct & indirect cost of accidents:

Collision with pedestrian = compensation, loss of working days, unplanned site downtime …

Collision with object = capital goods loss of value, repair costs …

Modularity to match your work environment

  • Easy to set 2 detection zones: one dedicated to pedestrian detection, one for all obstacles detection. The size of both zones can be adjusted.
  • Multiple hardware configurations: to cover blind spots as needed (vehicle rear, opposite side of the cab…). Equips all vehicle types and sizes.
