Evaluate and prevent the risk of overturning a dump truck when unloading.

This risk is rarely properly evaluated

The overturning of trucks along with the dump trailers is a major cause for serious and fatal accidents in the transport sector. The majority of the time they are due to the lack of knowledge of the stability principles linked to unloading the dumper.

Factors to consider in order to prevent the risk of overturning

1. Loading

  • Choose a vehicle adapted to the materials to be transported ;
  • Respect the maximum load authorized of the trailer ;
  • Set the maximum duration for the conservation of hot materials that are in the dumper before unloading in order to avoid the risk of sticking. ;
  • Use an insulated and covered dumper for hot materials.

2. Surroundings of the unloading point

  • Use an onboard device which assists against overturning which measures the lateral tilt of the dumper while it’s raising and alerts the driver ;
  • Establish a safety protocol and implicate all the necessary measures to prevent the risks identified at the points of unloading and loading;
  • Clear the unloading zone, consists of the allocated unloading points.

3. Method of unloading

  • Train the drivers specifically of the operations of loading and unloading with the adequacy of the activities undertaken.
  • Give instructions to follow for the drivers «What to do if? »...
    • The unloading point is inadequate?
    • The climate conditions are poor (lateral winds, cold, rain)?
    • The loads adheres to the sides?
    • Avoid side by side unloading, if impossible organize the operations to take into account a secure distance to maintain in between vehicles. (The secure distance consists of the minimum height of the vehicle when the dumper is completely raised)
  • Integrate the time when the dumper is descending (with the vehicle stationary) to the operation plans.

4. Vehicle

  • Do the maintenance of the vehicles ;
  • Respect the warning instructions of the maintenance and use of the trailer.

Tools are available to help the driver's vigilance;

Save time and money with Sentinel.

Sentinel 1.0

Security system for raised dumper and/or PTO Activated.

Informs the driver when the truck is functioning and the dumper is rised.

Sentinel 2.0

Security system which prevents overturning

Informs the driver of potential dangers of height and tipping.

Truck guidance & gun carriage guidange

The driver has only to follow the laser spot on the road

It’s more versatile. It’s easier. It’s faster. It’s safer!

The laser guidance uses an ultra high visibility green laser to establish visual line control.

For paint striping machine, gun carriage package, asphalt distributor, road widener, pavement profiler or virtually any application requiring vehicle line control.

The laser spot is impacted directly on the road surface and shows the Operator exactly where the vehicle is relative to “on line.” The laser spot is on the road ahead of the Operator so that the reference is in the driving field of view instead of a T.V. screen or boom pointer.

Why Laserline?

Reduce or eliminate pre-marking and the high cost associated with it.

Eliminates having to drive looking at a T.V. screen instead of the road.

Greatly increases the machine’s maneuverability.

Much less strain on the Operator. It reduces fatigue and increases skill load.

You are looking in your natural driving field of view at the reference point

Safety tips on site

Blind spots are a great danger for pedestrians, because these areas of the road are outside the driver's field of vision.

Here are some tips to avoid accidents.

YOU DRIVE A HEAVY VEHICLE?

Anticipation and verification

Be mindful of those around your vehicle, especially at urban intersections.

• Watch and anticipate people's movements around your vehicle.

• Do not assume that others can predict your manoeuvres.

• Make sure your rearview mirrors are clear, in good condition and properly adjusted.

• Keep your headlights on at all times.

• Use your turn signal lights to clearly indicate your intentions.

• Be careful when turning right at an intersection if your vehicle has to drift into the other lane or onto the shoulder to make the turn.

CIRCULATE NEAR A HEAVY VEHICLE?

Make sure to be seen: a rule that can save you

Make eye contact with the driver. Otherwise, assume the driver cannot see you.

• Avoid being in a vehicle's blind spot, especially trucks and buses.

• Do not cross behind a vehicle as it could back up without noticing you.

• Pay attention to the turn signal lights used by vehicles at intersections.

• Be visible: wear bright clothing, reflective strips, etc.

• If you are trying to make your presence known, keep in mind that the driver cannot hear you.

Weighing system for loader

The system offer flexibility: wherever you load, the scale is at hand!

A load scale system permits you to control the following ;

Your Data :

Permits to have precise data and exact weight. No more false estimates!

Your Costs :

If the truck is overloaded ,you have a risk of being fined and if the truck is not loaded enough you lose time and money!

Your time :

A scale increases productivity on the site by optimizing your loads . A load done properly the first time permits incredible time saved! , and reduces rotations of vehicles.
