How to program a range limiting device?

The range limiting device; safety device and assistance for equipment operators.

It is a monitoring device which supplies the operator precise indication on the positioning of the machine in respect to environmental obstacles which will protect the operator. With a continuous surveillance, it assists the operator by giving a sound indication and a light signal once the limit is close. If this is attained a blocking system immobilizes the machine. It therefore limits the risk of the machine to come into contact with environmental obstacles (Electrical wires, walls, ceilings, etc.).

There are several type of programmation:

1. Fixed height on 360°

The height limit is a limit on the maximum angle of the boom. It is also a 360° fixed height limit.

(French only)

2. Free zone (two walls)

The free rotation zone does not have any height limit. It is limited by two side walls. The boom cannot go beyond these walls.

(French only)

3. Height limit (between two walls)+Another free zone

It is possible to program a height limit under the power lines and a free zone (with no height limit) where the excavator loads the truck. Here’s an example of a practical use of this limit: an excavator digs a trench near power lines and has to put the material in a truck.

(French only)

4. Variable height limit with two walls

A variable limit is a height limit that can vary according to the boom position on the rotation (variable height limit). According to the general shape of the obstacle, you may need a limit at a certain height in a specific place, and another height somewhere else.

(French only)

5. Variable radius limit with two walls (optional)

A variable limit is a radius limit that can vary according to the boom position on the rotation (variable radius). You might need a particular radius limit somewhere and another radius limit somewhere else depending on the general shape of the obstacle.

6. Depth indicator (optional)

This optional depth indicator helps the operator to optimize excavation and levelling operations. The system indicates the depth of the bucket according to a pre-established marker.
