Pushed to respect a hellish pace, the huge trucks that clear the streets of Montreal regularly overturn

«Snow removal is all about speed, about performance. That is problematic.»

Pushed to respect a hellish pace, the huge trucks that clear the streets of Montreal regularly overturn threatening to fatally crush workers.

The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) even had to intervene last winter after three tipping semi-trailers in just one month at the quarry's snow dump. Saint-Michel, in the east of Montreal.

In addition to the wind, sometimes it is snow sticking to one side of the bucket that causes the tip to tip. When a truck's point of gravity is raised several meters in the air and tons of snow knock it off balance, a fall is inevitable. Mechanical breakdown can also be involved

How to evaluate and prevent the risk of overturning a dump truck when unloading?

This risk is rarely properly evaluated

The overturning of trucks along with the dump trailers is a major cause for serious and fatal accidents in the transport sector. The majority of the time they are due to the lack of knowledge of the stability principles linked to unloading the dumper.

Tools are available to help the driver's vigilance;

Save time and money with Sentinel.

Sentinel 1.0

Security system for raised dumper and/or PTO Activated.

Informs the driver when the truck is functioning and the dumper is rised.

Sentinel 2.0

Security system which prevents overturning

Informs the driver of potential dangers of height and tipping.

Lubrication system suitable for the demolition industry - Installation on an excavator

A good lubricant is essential for preventative maintenance for your equipment. Most of the foremen that are responsible for the maintenance of equipment will agree with this statement concerning preventative maintenance. If there is a lack of grease where there is movement and it collects dust or you wash the machine it will prematurely start to damage the moving parts.

Today’s reality is that most equipment are exposed to rough conditions (demolition, excavation, etc.) where the system is dangerously exposed. Working in such conditions can implicate costly repairs due to crushed and/or torn hoses which can lead to extra time for preventative maintenance.

Lubrication systems adapted to their environment

In order to address this issue, Alltech Group has adapted their lubrication systems to such environments by installing a special shielding to prevent damaging parts and hoses in critical areas of the equipment.

Shielding is installed on equipment that operate in extreme conditions such as demolition, excavation in rocky areas, mines, quarries, forestry, etc. it prevents costly repairs due to crushed and/or torn hoses. All areas at high risk are reinforced and protected.

Here is an Allfett lubrication system installed on an excavator that works in extreme demolition

  • The distribution valve located on the H-Link is protected by a protective metal plate.
  • Points situated in hazardous areas are linked by ultra-resistant metal hose.
  • A steel protection fitting protects the points of the H-Link which are at risk.
  • The supply lines of the H-Link are protected by a mechanical tube.

Health & Safety on our sites

The roads of Quebec have been particularly deadly around road construction sites in recent weeks.

In September 2020, Quebec was hit by several accidents involving three signaling workers.

Let's protect each other. Slow down around roadworks.

Laserline - Performance tools for snow removal equipment

The first snowflakes have already fallen in several places in the province of Quebec!

The industrial and commercial snow removal is a market increasingly specialized, where companies seek to stand out by finding performance tools for their equipment.

Laserline - The safer way to plow!

The laser spot impacts on the road/snow surface ahead of the truck and shows the driver where the wing plow trailing edge will be. This laser system is mainly used on snow removal trucks,

The laser reference spot is on the road and in the driver’s normal field of view. Driving conditions using the laser; the worse it gets, the better it works!  The GL3000PMC Guidance Laser uses an “ultra-bright” green laser to establish wing plow trailing edge location before you get there.

It is electronically designed for cold weather operation.

This laser is coupled to a special heat source for the exit window to reduce or eliminate ice build-up on the front of the laser output lens. The GL3000PMC also has a unique pneumatic snow removal system incorporated with the laser housing that automatically fires a blast of air at the front of the laser lens every 5 seconds. This removes snow build-up from the laser output lens.

The laser guidance system cuts damage caused by plow strikes by 80 to 100% and the high cost associated with it.
